Elegant four bedroom barn conversion positioned at the end of this delightful setting within South Hinksey, enjoying a stunning view overlooking open fields. The property is finished to a high standard throughout and every effort has been made to maintain the charm of the original barn, with feature stone walls and exposed beams throughout. The natural light and attention to detail of the luxurious finishes perfectly compliment this lovely home which comprises more than 2200 square feet of living space.
The heart of the home is the impressive light and airy kitchen/diner that expands to over 30ft. If you enjoy entertaining family and friends, this living arrangement is ideal as the space leads to a beautifully private enclosed garden which captures the sun most of the day.
The living room is complimented by a window feature which makes the most of the superb views of paddock land with resident ponies. A separate office is perfect for home working, or could be a playroom for children. Newly installed gigabit fibre means those working from home will have lightning-fast connectivity. Upstairs, the split-level master suite is impressive and certainly offers an executive feel, including a walk-in wardrobe and en-suite as well as a Juliet balcony overlooking the fields. In addition to this, the property offers three further well-proportioned bedrooms and a family bathroom.
The low maintenance rear garden is ideal for private al-fresco dining or spending time unwinding as it enjoys the afternoon sun. The front garden is recently remodelled and invites further enjoyment of outdoor space. The setting is ideal to access transport links, including A34 and the bypass; in the opposite direction a short walk along countryside paths leads you to Hinksey Park and Oxford City Centre. The property is in catchment for great schools including Matthew Arnold secondary school.
Off street parking for three vehicles, substantial kitchen/diner leading to dual-aspect living space, as well as home office, downstairs WC, utility, four first floor bedrooms, family bathroom, and master bedroom with en-suite and walk in wardrobes.
South Hinksey is a village approximately one and a half miles south west of the centre of Oxford with its parish church of St. Laurence having parts dating from the 13th Century. Pedestrian and cycle access from the village to Oxford is via the Devil's Backbone, an historic raised pathway across the neighbouring plains that feature in Matthew Arnold's poem 'The Scholar Gipsy'. The property is accessed via the A34 by car and is well placed for reaching the A420 and transport links to London, Newbury and Banbury. Rail links are available from Oxford to London Paddington and Oxford Parkway to London Marylebone.
In the owners words:
“We bought the property as a young professional couple, and loved the entertaining space - we always got compliments on the character of the barn from visitors. We now have a young family and love our private enclosed gardens for playing, as well as the peaceful location within the village. We can be at Hinksey Park within minutes on foot, and there are lovely bike rides to country pubs like the Fishes straight from the doorstep. The village is a friendly community, with a regular social activities and a whataspp group, but it’s never intrusive. A change in life circumstances mean we must move, but we will be very sad to leave this wonderful home.”
