Merton is remarkably well placed for access to both road and rail links with junction 9 of the M40 approximately 7 miles away, and railway stations at Islip (4.1 miles), Bicester (4.7 miles) and Oxford Parkway (7.6 miles) serving London Marylebone, Birmingham Snowshill and Oxford. The cultural and commercial centre of Oxford has a wide range of shops, amenities and entertainment, as well as its' world renowned University and excellent independent schools including Oxford High, St Edwards, Magdalen and The Dragon.
In the owner’s words:
“Merton has been our village home now for over 20 years. We have loved village life, being close enough to lots of facilities and benefitting from being able to step out into fabulous countryside. As the family has grown so has the house, with improvements being made along the way to create a versatile family space, with a lovely garden. The second downstairs reception room having been a playroom, a teenage lounge and more recently a home office.
Merton is a fabulous village with so much to offer from a huge playing field and lovely children’s playground to the ever-changing community woodland. There are also numerous footpaths connecting to nearby villages and the Otmoor. My children all attended the local primary school in Charlton on Otmoor which has so much to offer and has a real close knit family feel. From Merton there are the options of attending one of the many Bicester secondaries or even Gosford in Kidlington. The village is conveniently placed with easy access to the M40 and close to the two train stations of Bicester or Islip for trains to London and Oxford.
There is a regular bus service into Bicester and also the Oxford hospitals Merton has a vibrant local community and is tremendously welcoming. Our home is one bursting with happy memories, and it is now time for us to make some new ones and a new family to make theirs”
